Sarah Browne, Step, 2018. Exhibition view at TOUCH, nGbk, Berlin. Photo: Barbara Proschak

This object combines the material languages of exercise equipment (an aerobics step), disability aids and domestic furniture (a bath mat). This is part of a body of research that explores sculpture as a tool for teaching or ‘training’, and how to train for softer, interdependent (rather than ‘hard’ and autonomous) bodies.

Sarah Browne, Step, 2018. Cast silicone, soft expanding foam, hard cast plastic, wall mirror. Sculpture dimensions 110cm x 41cm x 21cm
